What’s on your Kindle right now? What books are on your shelf? What are you reading?
According to a recent list compiled by Amazon, people in Cambridge, MA buy the most books (print and Kindle) per capita.
Check out the list. Does your hometown make the cut?
Are you a reader? Leaders are readers.
Kevin wrote a great post on Monday about the importance of reading broadly. It’s easy to get stuck in the habit of reading books on only one topic, or in only one genre. If you always read business books, perhaps it’s time to pick up some fiction. When’s the last time you read poetry? History? A Biography?
As you make your summer reading list, consider adding some variety to your list. For some suggestions, check out Kevin’s list.
To that list, I would like to add two more suggestions. This week Kevin reviewed Mondays at 3: A Story for Managers Learning to Lead by Greg Giesen. I have also read and recommend this book.
As you might imagine, I also recommend, to those of you who have not yet read it, Kevin Eikenberry and Guy Harris’ From Bud to Boss: Secrets to a Successful Transition to Remarkable Leadership.
To complete the trio of recent releases on the topic of transition to leadership, I also recommend that you check out Pam Fox-Rollin’s new book, 42 Rules for Your New Leadership Role.
All three books are different and all three books offer valuable lessons and perspectives for leaders.
