We’ve been asking you to BUILD the BUZZ about From Bud to Boss. You might find it hard to do if you don’t know a lot about us yet. So, with 29 days left until the launch, we’re going to give you some information to be excited about — so you can share it with others as you BUILD the BUZZ.
- Kevin and Guy wrote the book based on their years of work consulting and coaching.
- Through their work, they learned that oftentimes people who are promoted into positions of leadership in organizations don’t get the training and support they need.
- Kevin and Guy wanted to help fill that gap in training so they have created ways to add value beyond the book, including the Workshop and the Community.
- As you read the book, you will gain from their collaborative partnership but you may not be able to tell who wrote each section of the book; their writing flows seamlessly.
- Kevin and Guy wrote the book for three groups of people: new leaders, people who want to become leaders, and more experienced leaders who are coaching others through a leadership transition.
- This book will help all three groups of people become more successful in their roles.
- We hope you will recommend this book to people you know who fit into those three groups.
- In the fall of 2009, Kevin and Guy began traveling to various cities in the US to present the Bud to Boss workshop.
- This year, Kevin will take the workshop overseas. He has already booked dates in Jordan and is exploring other international opportunities.
- We would love to help you bring the workshop to your community, whether you live in the US or abroad.
- The workshop is presented to groups of about 25 to allow for interaction and group discussion.
- People who supervisor their peers and friends face particularly difficult challenges.
- This book addresses the challenges related to supervising friends and peers.
- While the book pays special attention to making a transition to leadership, it contains helpful principles for anyone who is leading others.(see above)
- The book is divided into six sections. Each section contains a self-assessment, so readers can reflect on opportunities for growth and learning.
- Each chapter (41 in all) ends with goal setting so readers can make plans to put their learning into action immediately.
- Remarkable Principles in each chapter highlight and emphasize the most important concepts. You’re going to want to copy them down and post them where you can see and remember them.
- Concepts in the book are reinforced with Bonus Bytes. Once you buy the book, you will be able to learn more by accessing the bonus bytes within the Bud to Boss Community.
- In addition the the Bonus Bytes, the Bud to Boss Community offers a range of other resources to extend the learning contained in the book.
- We are partnering with the best bloggers we know — ones who write about leadership, HR, and career topics— to provide a continuous stream of excellent content to members of the Bud to Boss Community.
- When we launch the book, we will also launch a resource page that will list bloggers by topic, with links to their 3 most recent posts.
- Our blogger resource page will make it easy for members of our community to find great content.
- We also plan to highlight and feature bloggers in our community, presenting their best work on the topics contained in the book.
- If you are a blogger in this space and we haven’t yet contacted you, we would love to meet you and explore the possibility of featuring your work in our community. Email me, becky@kevineikenberry.com.
- We have some exciting plans to encourage interaction in the community.
- We want to share your stories about making a transition to leadership in your organization because we believe your story can help others.
- We hope you will join our community, share your story, and interact with others.
- We want to encourage members of our community to support each other in their efforts to learn and grow as leaders.
- We are grateful for the ways you are joining us in our efforts to BUILD the BUZZ.
