Kevin-300dpi-300pxIn an interview for the Intuit Small Business Blog, Kevin Eikenberry offers entrepreneurs and small business owners advice for developing a leadership mindset. He points out three sins every leader should avoid:

  1. Micromanaging. Eikenberry says “No one wants to be micromanaged. You aren’t the only person responsible for the work. Prepare people to succeed by providing training and clear expectations. Then get out of their way.”
  2. Neglecting the leadership role. He adds “You may not have started your business to lead, but now you must do so. You can’t put it off, and you can’t abdicate.”
  3. Talking too much. Eikenberry urges you to remember that “Your team members have brains. Ask them what they think, and give them time to answer. Shut up and listen to what they have to say; you will likely learn something.”
